The Radcliffe School is a mixed comprehensive school, located in an area of relative deprivation: 30% of our 1224 pupils are Pupil Premium; additionally, there is a high proportion of EAL students.
The school has a small but growing Sixth Form, with 68 students currently on roll in year 13.
The school was designated as Good by Ofsted in January 2020. The school was previously identified as an 'Aim Higher' school. There has, historically, been a significant lack of aspiration from many students and parents.
The school offers the following A Levels: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Core Maths (A/S), Criminology, Drama & Theatre Studies, Economics, English Literature and Language, English Literature, Film Studies, French, Further Maths, Geography, Graphics, History, Mathematics, Media Studies, Music, Physics, Photography, Politics, Product Design, Psychology and Sociology. We also offer the following BTECs: Business, IT, Psychology and Sport (Foundation Diploma and the Diploma). Students are also able to take CTEC Health and Social Care. We offer these because we feel this offers a broad range of choices matching staff expertise from Key Stage 4 to Key Stage 5. This current range of choices reflects our take up, facilities and staff expertise. We have decided not to offer the EPQ this year, due to staffing restraints.
We currently use mock exams and teachers’ professional judgement to inform our predicted grades.
