I am sure you would wish to join me in celebrating the fantastic achievements of our students in the recent GCSE and A Level examinations.

For the third consecutive year our students have established new school records by gaining 51% A*-C GCSE grades including Maths and English, whilst 84% gained 5 x A*-C grades overall and every Year 11 student achieved at least one Level Two qualification. These achievements were all well above the targets set for the school by the Local Authority.

We will publish in full the performance of each of our subject areas, but in summary our students achieved 9.7% A* grades, 8.2% A grades, 22.7% B grades, all significantly up on previous years.

Several subject areas achieved 100% pass rates with large numbers of students achieving the top grades.

Our students achieved equally impressive successes in the A Level examinations with 49.47% of the grades being awarded at A*/B level, enabling the vast majority to progress on to Universities of their choice.

None of these outstanding achievements would have been possible without the hard work of students and staff and the support of parents. The challenge for us all is to ensure that current progress is maintained or exceeded, and we look forward to your continued support in achieving these ambitious targets.

I hope you have had a restful summer break, and are ready to help us meet the challenges ahead.

Here at The Radcliffe School we have worked hard to develop a brand new, inter-disciplinary curriculum for our Key Stage Three Learners. This “Hook” based approach allows our learners to follow a consistent theme throughout each half term with subject areas working together to provide a truly immersive curriculum which prioritises both what is learned and how it is learned. Our aim is to provide our learners with the skills they need to be successful in Key Stage Four, Key Stage Five and beyond. To find out more about the Year 7 Programme of Study, just click on the picture.

Our dedicated and enthusiastic staff continue to work to make sure learning at The Radcliffe School is an enriching experience for our students. To this end our new Programmes of Study are also supplemented by visits from external facilitators and professionals as well as school trips and visits which we encourage our young people to take part in.

This new Curriculum comes into being in September 2010. Please continue to look at our web site for our updates and the publication of parent/carer and student-friendly Programmes of Study.
