Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10 and 11)
Progression across the three year Key Stage Four is staged. Students can complete an accredited course in two years enabling further specialism in Year 11 or an early start on Sixth Form courses. Students can consolidate courses in Year 11 to improve grades or extend existing qualifications.
All students will have a personal learning interview with parents, tutors and senior staff in both Year 9 and Year 10 to plan the appropriate next stages regarding individual subject areas.
Qualifications include:
GCSE
BTEC vocational qualification (equivalent to 2 or 4 GCSEs)
Youth Award
Entry Level Certificates
Approaches to learning are varied and include coursework and testing, presentations – oral, written and video, investigations, individual and group work, essays, workshops and conferences, fieldwork, research, art work, making products, demonstrations and performances.
